Apple has announced that it is discontinuing its iconic music player, the iPod — after 21 years in the market.
Apple notes that users can enjoy music across a wide range of its devices, including iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and HomePod.
Customers can still purchase the last available stock of iPod touch through apple.com and its retailers.
The first iPod was launched in back 2001, which gave users 1,000 songs storage and a 10-hour battery.
Over the past years, Apple continued to launch various iPod models – including the OG iPod, the popular iPod nano, the iconic iPod Shuffle, and the latest iPod touch, which was anything close to an iPhone.

“Music has always been part of our core at Apple, and bringing it to hundreds of millions of users in the way iPod did impacted more than just the music industry — it also redefined how music is discovered, listened to, and shared,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
“We’ve integrated an incredible music experience across all of our products, from the iPhone to the Apple Watch to HomePod mini, and across Mac, iPad, and Apple TV. And Apple Music delivers industry-leading sound quality with support for spatial audio — there’s no better way to enjoy, discover, and experience music,” he added.
Apple says the iPod Touch will remain available to buy “while stocks last”.
