Local drama movie ‘Kedibone’ take the spotlight as our movie of the week.
Directed by Thomas Gumede, the movie stars Natasha Thahane, Wright Ngubeni, Busisiwe Mtshali, Thabo Malema, Thami Mngqolo, Matli Mohapeloa and Kenneth Nkosi to name a few.
The movie was originally released in 2020 and managed to land a wider release after releasing on Netflix this past week.
The story follows Kedibone Manamela (played by Thahane), a beautiful young Sotho girl who has dreams of joining the film industry but she then chooses to live her youth in the fast lane. Lured by easy money, fancy living and glamour, Kedibone finds herself caught between having it all while trying to remain loyal to her boyfriend.
She bounces between being a good girl in the township and the ‘it’ girl on the high end of Johannesburg streets.
The story highlights the dark reality that operates in the film industry and how the young girls get lured in. Kedibone wanted to leave her past behind to go beyond the life of poverty.
The movie is definitely a must-watch throughout out, however, the ending is quite weak and makes less sense to close off.
The movie is now streaming on Netflix.
