The first part of ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 is now streaming on Netflix. The new season has a total of 9 episodes and two separate volumes, with the first already out and the second releasing on July 1.
The new season takes us to six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.
Show creators, The Duffer Brothers have confirmed that the series will be ending with Season 5.
But what is more mind-blowing is how long the episodes are, some even running longer than movies. The new season has a total of roughly 13 hours of runtime. The final two episodes of Volume 2 clock in at nearly four hours long. Episode 407 is 1 hour, 38 minutes; Episode 408 is around 1 hour, 25 minutes; and 409 is almost 2 and a half hours.
In a report by Wall Street Journal, Stranger Things Season 4 “has a per-episode cost of $30 million, according to people close to the show.”
This means Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s biggest-budget shows, bigger than Virgin River costs $3 million per episode and Bridgerton costs “more than three times as much” as Virgin River. So that’s more than $9 million, which is not even near $30 million.
