Banyana Banyana were crowned the champions of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after they beat Morocco 2-1.

The heated final match took place at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Morocco on Saturday.

Hildah Magaia put Banyana in the lead in the 63rd minute beating Morocco goalkeeper Khadija Er-Rmichi.

Rosella Ayane put the final goal in the 80th minute closing the 2-1 score.

The team will return to South Africa on Tuesday, 26 July, ending their trip in Morocco.

It was South Africa’s first title after finishing second five times, including the most recent edition in 2018.
