Locally made ‘Justice Served’ steals the spotlight as our show of the week.
The 6-episode series follows Hlomla Dandala, who plays freedom fighter and military veteran Azania Maqoma, who styles himself as an arbiter of justice while driving secret agendas to settle scores with old foes. Together with his group, they take over a courtroom where a white police officer, Allan Harve (Morné Visser), is on trial for the murder of a young black man.
They demand to let the public decide if the murder accused should be executed, setting the world on fire, and throwing the lives of everyday people into chaos.
The show delves into the constitutional principles that guarantee the accused a fair trial and the presumption of innocence against the backdrop of a deeply unjust society, a corrupt government, and a disillusioned nation.
The cast also includes Motshabi Tyelele, Jack Devnarain, Lerato Mvelase and Pallance Dladla.
The series is now available to stream on Netflix.
