Bet at first glance, you thought these were grasshoppers! No, they are not grasshoppers—meet Nike’s reimagined iteration of the ’80s Nike Bedouin, now updated as the BE-DO-WIN.
The BE-DO-WIN carries an impactful message, which stands for “BE conscious of climate change, DO take action against climate change, and WIN the battle to prevent climate change.”
The Nike Bedouin was a moc-toe style shoe with full-grain leather that was intended for more casual wear, though it still incorporated Nike’s running technologies of the era such as Nike Air and an Octowaffle pattern outsole.
Fast forward to 2021 through to 2022—Nike has brought back this model with few adjustments and has so far dished out some exciting colourways. Releasing this week is the “Multi-Color” version with a crispy color-blocking vibe.
The shoe features a suede build and tonal stitching with mesh materials used on the tongues as well as on the toe box. Recycled materials are used on the laces, tongue liners, and cork insole. Finishing off the design is a retro-inspired BE-DO-WIN logo on the heels atop a new cushioned sole.
Look out for the Nike BE-DO-WIN “Multi-colour” to release on Friday, 05 August 2022 through Shelflife (Joburg and Cape Town) + online via first come first serve. The retail price is set at R2599.
