Amidst the ongoing Kanye West and adidas saga, adidas has finally broken its silence regarding its partnership with YEEZY.
The Three Stripes brand issued a statement confirming that they have been in discussions with Kanye in recent days and that their relationship with Kanye is “under review.”
Per the statement: (via CNBC)
“adidas has always been about creativity, innovation and supporting athletes and artists to achieve their vision. The adidas Yeezy partnership is one of the most successful collaborations in our industry’s history. We are proud of our team that has worked tirelessly throughout our collaboration with Ye and the iconic products that were born from it. We also recognize that all successful partnerships are rooted in mutual respect and shared values. After repeated efforts to privately resolve the situation, we have taken the decision to place the partnership under review. We will continue to co-manage the current product during this period.”
This follows Kanye’s continued criticism of adidas for allegedly “copying his designs” and failing to give him enough control over the YEEZY x adidas line.
Kanye is aware of the latest statement by adidas, and has shared an Instagram post with the caption “ ̶F̶U̶U̶U̶U̶U̶U̶C̶K̶ ADIDAS | AM ADIDAS ADIDAS RAPED AND STOLE MY DESIGNS”
On August 4, Adidas outgoing CEO Kasper Rorsted told CNBC, “Kanye is our most important partner worldwide. We have a very, very good relationship with him. We communicate with him on a very ongoing basis. And we’re very proud of that relationship.”
This is a developing story, so stay tuned for more updates.
