South African footwear and streetwear retail store, Shelflife (SL) secured its first and historic collaboration with the Jordan brand. Two years in the making, the collaboration sees Shelflife getting to deliver its own design on the Jordan 2 silhouette.
Shelflife has for years been one of the key retailers of Jordan sneakers, so it comes as a no-brainer for Nike to pick them along with two other stores worldwide to do this special collab.
The Swoosh brand selected the Titan Store in the Philippines, Shop Two 18 in Detroit, USA and SL in South Africa.
“We have put together some presentations and a couple of meetings, and then eventually it led down to meeting with the designer for special projects, and I was very involved right from the beginning, from bouncing ideas, talking about colors we would work with, which materials we would use, so I was very much involved throughout the process,”
says Nick Herbert Founder and Creative Director, Shelflife.
From all 6 samples that were made along the process, it all came down to this well-crafted Air Jordan 2, which boldly highlights Shelflife’s key tones and story.
The Shelflife x Air Jordan 2 Retro Low arrives in a clean white, sail, light bone, and bright mandarin color scheme. The upper is made up of various premium materials highlighted with Orange contrasting accents.
Special details include “TEAM” & “ONLY” text on the inner tongue tags, co-branding graphic insoles, and “Jordan Flight Club” hangtag, with two extra sets of laces (green and orange). A semi-translucent outsole completes the design.
The package comes with three sets of laces in a special box nodding to South Africa, Detroit, and the Philippines.

Honoring the ‘TEAM ONLY’ theme, SL rolled out this launch by paying homage to their team, who are at the forefront. The roll-out highlights the stories of each team member, sharing their journey working for SL and their roles.
