
This week we put the spotlight on the new series “Welcome to Chippendales”.
It stars Kumail Nanjiani as Somen “Steve” Banerjee, Murray Bartlett as Nick De Noia, Annaleigh Ashford as Irene and Juliette Lewis as Denise.
This true-crime miniseries puts the spotlight on Chippendales founder Somen “Steve” Banerjee. Portrayed by Kumail Nanjiani, the Indian immigrant is so obsessed with reaching the American dream. He builds the largest and first all-male strip joint, Chippendales, only to burn it down in less than ten years and wind up being an accessory to murder. His downfall also impacts the lives of others in his orbit, specifically Chippendales choreographer Nick De Noia.
This tale of male strippers, jealousy, and murder happens in the midst of the 80s in Los Angeles.
The 8-part miniseries is now streaming on Disney+.
