Upon the exclusive Kith release in October 2022, the much anticipated PUMA x Dapper Dan drop 2 is finally here.
The collection comprises of a limited five-piece collection that is a mix of PUMA’s sport heritage and Dapper Dan’s exquisite workmanship.
The concept of a pre-game runway served as the inspiration for the new PUMA x Dapper Dan collection; the apparel and footwear pieces feature a luxurious upcycled aesthetic accentuated with knitted materials and all-over monogram graphics. The line features a new take on the traditional Clyde shoe, a T7 tracksuit covered in PUMA x Dap logo mania, two tees, and a reversible padded jacket decorated with rhinestones; the collaborator’s logo, and Dap’s striking representation of the PUMA. In true Dapper Dan fashion, he drew inspiration from his Harlem roots for this follow-up release, thinking back on the value of expression and what that has meant to him over the years.
Dapper Dan has been a design innovator since the early 1980s, remixing symbols to develop his own distinctive look. He began by selling luxury products out of the trunk of his car, progressed to designing car wraps for hip-hop clients, and then opened an atelier where people went to get the authentic Harlem experience. This collection is no different as it reflects his Harlem roots while reflecting on the importance of expression and what that’s looked like for him through the years.
Along with this five-piece capsule, Dapper Dan has redesigned the interior of the PUMA jet with the PUMA x Dapper Dan print, added accessories with co-branded logos, and the materials used in the most recent collaboration. Dap recalls the times when the bus was his primary form of transportation and how his designs are now in the skies with the PUMA jet in his statement on the ongoing growth and evolution of his projects, “We came by dog and now we travel by bird.”
