The 2017 comedy film ‘Girls Trip,’ starring Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tiffany Haddish, is headed to Ghana for its sequel.
Tracey Oliver, who co-wrote the original 2017 film with Kenya Barris, told Variety that ‘Girls Strip 2’ is “officially happening” and the cast will reunite in Ghana as they attend the popular Afrobeat music festival AfroFuture (formerly Afrochella). The Afrochella festival celebrates art and creative activations from the continent, as well as African music and premium, cultured cuisine.
The first ‘Girls Strip’ follows four lifelong friends, played by Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Tiffany Haddish, as they take a vacation to New Orleans to attend the Essence Festival. The film explores themes of sisterhood and personal struggles, such as infidelity and financial difficulties, as the friends reconnect and support each other.
The upcoming film is currently in the scripting stage, and no release date or casting information has been announced as of yet.
