The legendary sports anchor Robert Marawa will be joining 947 in February.
The sportscaster is set to host his highly acclaimed sports show, Marawa Sports Worldwide (#MSW), live from Primedia’s 947 studios on weekdays at 6pm from Wednesday, 1 February.
Listeners can look forward to discussions about sports development and administration, the state of gender and racial transformation as well as real-life stories of how sports have uplifted individuals and communities.
Marawa describes the move to Primedia as “the best moment” in his radio career.
“My move to Primedia is both historic and exciting in creating a wider reach for all #MSW fans, especially for Gauteng residents who have been complaining about being left out.”
“With this move, we are raising the game for sports enthusiasts in South Africa and beyond,” said Marawa.
Marawa parted ways with SABC back in 2021 where he hosted the daily sports show Marawa Sports Worldwide (MSW) on Metro FM and Radio 2000.
Highlights of Marawa’s career include interviewing various heads of state, international sports stars, prominent sports icons, and club owners.
He has interviewed the likes of Patrice Motsepe, former President Nelson Mandela, former FIFA President Sepp Blatter, Usain Bolt, Serena Williams, and so many more, bringing their stories to the community.
According to 947 station manager Ravi Naidoo, Marawa’s new show will expand 947’s offering, appealing to more listeners.
“Listeners can look forward to sixty minutes filled to the brim with the very latest sports news, exclusive exposés, and interviews, with real-time updates and insights.”
The hour-long show will also be broadcasted to Vuma FM, Rise FM, Sowetanlive as well as to millions of other listeners worldwide on Primedia’s audio stream and catch-up services.
