Donald Glover called it a wrap with “Atlanta” and is already on his next chapter with a thrilling new series. Titled “Swarm,” the new captivating series highlights the dangers of the internet, fandom, stan culture, and the psychological complications that can come with them.
It stars Dominique Fishback as Andrea “Dre”, Chloe Bailey as Marissa “Ris” Jackson, Nirine S. Brown as Ni’Jah, Karen Rodriguez as Erica and Damson Idris as Khalid.
In this 7-part series, the story follows Ni’Jah-obsessed Dre, a young woman who is obsessed with a pop star and will go to increasingly violent lengths for her. With a fanbase known as “The Swarm” (similar to Beyoncé’s “Bey Hive”) Dre will sting anyone who speaks against her favorite singer, but things take a turn when her obsession takes her to dark and unexpected places.
“Swarm,” is part of Glover’s multiyear deal with Amazon and is led by Fishback’s (also a producer on the show) central character and a team of writers that includes Malia Obama.
All 7 episodes are now streaming on Prime Video. Here’s a trailer to get you started:
