For our movie fans, we bring you a list of movies to add to your watch list this year.
With a bunch of movies to choose from comedy, action, thriller, animation, adventure and horror, we have picked 10 movies that you can look forward to the rest of the year.
In the first quarter movie fans get to enjoy movies such as John Wick 4, Ant-Man, Scream VI, Creed 3 and Thor: Love and Thunder to mention a few.
For the rest of the year, the line-up looks even more heated with blockbusters such as the new Spiderman movie, Fast X, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and The Little Mermaid.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Release Date: May 5
Following the release of the Holiday Special in late November 2022, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is finally coming to cinemas this May after a long wait for Marvel fans.
In Guardians of the Galaxy 3 our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
Fast X
Release Date: May 19
The tenth installment of Fast & Furious returns this year.
In addition to Diesel, series stars reprising their roles from the franchise’s early days include Michelle Rodriguez as Dom’s wife and partner Letty, Jordanna Brewster as his sister Mia, with Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Sung Kang returning as Roman, Tej and Han respectively.
Returning cast members from later installments include Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw, Helen Mirren as his mother Queenie, Charlize Theron as Cipher, Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey, Scott Wastwood as Eric, and John Cena as Dom’s brother Jakob.
The Little Mermaid
Release Date: May 26
This live-action remake of Disney’s fish-out-of-water favorite has some inspired casting. Ariel, a young and curious mermaid, dreams of exploring the world above the sea. She falls in love with Prince Eric, a human who saves her from a storm. She makes a deal with Ursula, a wicked sea witch, to trade her voice for human legs.
Ariel tries to win Eric’s heart with the help of her friends Sebastian, Flounder, and Scuttle. However, Ursula has a hidden agenda to take over the kingdom of King Triton, Ariel’s father. Ariel must find a way to break the spell and save her family and friends.
The cast includes Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian and Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Release Date: June 2
The sequel to 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, arrives later this year.
After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Miles Morales is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. However, when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders. He must soon redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts
Release Date: June 9
Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure and introduce the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons. Directed by Steven Caple Jr. and starring Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback, the film arrives in theatres June 9, 2023.
The Flash
Release Date: June 16
In “The Flash,” Barry’s use of his superpowers to travel back in time and alter past events causes a collision of different worlds. His attempt to save his family results in unintended changes to the future, leading to a reality where General Zod has come back, posing a threat of destruction, and there are no Super Heroes around to help. To save his world and return to his future, Barry must persuade a retired Batman to help him and rescue a Kryptonian who is not the one he intended to find. His ultimate goal is to save the world he is in and restore the future that he knows.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One
Release Date: July 14
The mission of Ethan Hunt and his team is to thwart Eugene Kittridge, a rogue spy who plans to manipulate the truth and morality for his own gain. Along the way, they encounter allies and foes, including Grace, a mysterious woman with ties to Ethan’s past.
Ethan and his team discover that Kittridge is collaborating with the Spot, a villain who possesses the ability to create portals to alternate realities. They must pursue them around the world and prevent a catastrophic event that could obliterate all dimensions.
Barbie
Release Date: July 21
Barbie is a fantasy comedy film about a perfect doll who lives in Barbie Land, but has an existential crisis and decides to explore the real world with her friend Ken. Along the way, she learns about herself and what it means to be human.
The cast includes Margot Robbie as Barbie, Ryan Gosling as Ken, Will Ferrell as Mattel CEO, Michael Cera as Allan, and America Ferrera as Gloria.
Oppenheimer
Release Date: July 21
Christopher Nolan’s buzzed-about biopic on physicist and “father of the atomic bomb” J. Robert Oppenheimer stars Cillian Murphy in the titular role, as well as Emily Blunt and Matt Damon.
In this movie, J. Robert Oppenheimer, a brilliant and ambitious American physicist, is recruited by the U.S. government to lead the Manhattan Project, a secret program to develop the world’s first atomic bomb during World War II.
Oppenheimer and his team of scientists face moral, ethical, and personal dilemmas as they race against time and enemies to create a weapon of mass destruction that could end the war or unleash a new era of horror.
Equalizer 3
Release Date: September 1
Denzel Washington returns for the third installment of The Equalizer directed by Antoine Fuqua. It is the sequel to the 2018 film The Equalizer 2, which was based on the TV series of the same name. The film stars Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning.
