For those who missed out on the cinema release of the Viola Davis-led ‘The Woman King,’ the film will be hitting Netflix this June after an 8-month cinema run.
The Woman King will be available to stream on Netflix from Friday, 10 June 2023.
The movie cast also includes Thuso Mbedu, John Boyega, and Lashana Lynch amongst others.
The drama is inspired by true events that took place in the Kingdom of Dahomey in the 18th and 19th centuries. The story follows Viola Davis as Nanisca, a military unit general, and Thuso Mbedu as Nawi, an ambitious recruit. Davis and Mbedu will fight enemies who violated their honor, enslave their people, and threaten to destroy everything they’ve lived for.
Davis produced the project alongside Cathy Schulman, Julius Tennon, and Maria Bello.
Other cast includes Makgotso M, Masali Baduza, Angélique Kidjo, Siv Ngesi, Zozibini Tunzi, Thando Dlomo, and Tuks Tad Lungu.
