Home Affairs Minister Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi has announced the extension of operating hours for Home Affairs departments.
The operating hours will be extended by two more hours at the front offices from 08:00 to 17:30 from Tuesday, 27 June 2023. However, this extension is temporary.
This temporary extension is due to the high demand for Smart ID Cards and passport services at Home Affairs offices, which applies to the 198 modernized Live Capture offices that can process Smart ID Cards and passports.
“The Department usually receives a higher volume of applications during school holidays. To meet demand during this period, we have extended operating hours,” said Minister Motsoaledi.
