2K Games has announced the NBA 2K24 cover star, and it’s none other than the legendary Kobe Bryant.
Kobe will be featured in two special editions of the game: the Kobe Bryant Edition and the Black Mamba Edition. The NBA 2K24 is slated to launch beginning September across all platforms, including PS5 and Xbox Series X and Series S.

“As we celebrate 25 years of NBA 2K with Kobe Bryant, we commemorate his legacy and the generational impact he has had on the game of basketball,” Greg Thomas, president at Visual Concepts, the game’s developer, said in a statement.
This will be the fourth time Bryant has been on the game’s cover, including the 2K21 version where he was featured on the front of the Mamba Forever edition released after the tragic helicopter crash in January 2020, which claimed the lives of Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others in Calabasas, California.
Born on August 23, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he entered the NBA straight out of high school at the age of 17. Kobe played his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he established himself as one of the greatest players of all time. With an unparalleled work ethic, he won five NBA championships, and two Olympic gold medals, and earned numerous individual accolades, including MVP awards and All-Star selections. His scoring prowess, mesmerizing skills, and competitive fire made him a beloved figure in the basketball world.
Tragically, Kobe, along with his daughter Gianna and several others, passed away in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020, leaving a profound legacy that will forever be remembered.
