Surely you might have seen Burna Boy lately, stunting with a rather sizable neckpiece, boldly featuring the letters ‘ODG’.
ODG— which stands for “ODOGWU,” is a self-proclaimed Burna Boy nickname, also slang in Nigeria, meaning a strong man, a man of charisma and prowess, and it also conveys the idea of a rich man.
Much like it’s practically a musical rite of passage for artists to rock their own exclusive chains, Burna Boy tapped the renowned jewelry maestros at A Jewellers in London, enlisting their craft to weave a statement piece that captures the very essence of the artist himself, as well as the soul of Burna’s music.
A Jewellers’ music scene clientele boasts names like WizKid, Gunna, Skepta, and others.
This Burna Boy one-of-a-kind custom piece is valued at over 1 million dollars (approximately R18 million).
Burna’s neckpiece became a hit on social media when A Jewelers shared a video of this diamond chain.
In addition, Burna Boy used this chain to pay homage to the late Louis Vuitton designer Virgil Abloh, whom he frequently mentions on his latest album ‘I Told Them’.
Key things to know about Burna’s chain:
– The chain took over 6 months to manufacture
– Features over 400 carats of VVS diamonds
– Includes 100 individual GIA-certified 30 pointer stones
– Features a combination of carefully selected round, baguette, asher & princess-cut stones
