UPDATE(19/09): 15:28

Burna Boy’s Johannesburg show has been cancelled. His management issued a statement that the show has been ‘cancelled’ and ticketholders must be ‘refunded in full’.

Sadly, it is with great regret that we must inform you that, despite my team’s effort, the show in Johannesburg on Sept 23rd will be cancelled due to the inability of the promoters to fulfil their contractual, financial, production and technical obligations. Production vendors have apparently still not been paid and as such, it is evident at this point that the agreed production standard needed for this venue size cannot be achieved. We hereby state that all ticketing companies must ensure that everyone is refunded in full.

UPDATE (19/09): 13:15

According to a statement Ticketpro, the event was postponed due to low ticket sales and other logistic issues.

ORIGINAL POST:
Sorry if you was ready for the Burna Boy show this weekend! The stadium show which was set for 23 September 2023 at FNB Stadium, has been postponed to 16 December this year.

TicketPro has suspended ticket sales, accompanied by an alert stating, ‘This event has been temporarily postponed until further notice!’.

When contacting the ticket seller, they did confirm the show has been postponed to 16 December, and further details for ticketholders will be communicated.

Statement:

We regret to announce the postponement of the highly anticipated Burna Boy concert scheduled to take place at FNB Stadium, Johannesburg on 23 September 2023. The concert will now take place on 16th of December 2023.
This decision was not made lightly by the promoter, and comes as a result of careful consideration and assessment of various factors, including the lack ticket sales.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for those who have already purchased tickets. All previously purchased tickets remain valid for 16th of December. For fans who are unable to attend on this date we have set up a dedicated customer support channel. We ask fans to email us on mail info@ticketpros.co.za with their Burna Boy ticket reference and cell phone number, so that we may assist with the refund process.
We are committed to making the rescheduled Burna Boy concert an exceptional experience for all.

The Nigerian superstar was booked to fill the +90,000-capacity FNB Stadium, coming fresh off selling out the 80,000-capacity London Stadium and recently the 41,800-seat Citi Field in Queens, NY.

His last show in South Africa was in 2022, where he headlined the DStv Delicious Festival, which sparked controversy and faced backlash from fans.
