The Kandasamys are back, and their family dynamic is as charming and humorous as ever in “Kandasamys: The Baby.”
This sequel to the beloved series of films, including “Keeping Up With The Kandasamys,” “Kandasamys: The Wedding,” and “Trippin’ With The Kandasamys,” continues to deliver the perfect blend of chilled comedy and heartfelt moments that fans have come to adore.
Set in the picturesque landscapes of Mauritius, the movie follows the journey of Jodi (Mishqah Parthiephal) and Prishen (Madhushan Singh), a couple eagerly awaiting the arrival of their bundle of joy. However, the impending addition to the family isn’t without its share of drama, thanks to the ever-interfering and iconic mom-and-almost-grandmother duo, Jennifer (Jailoshini Naidoo) and Shanti (Maeshni Naicker).
While the previous films in the series have leaned heavily on humor and bubbly scenes, “Kandasamys: The Baby” takes on a more dramatic tone. It skillfully weaves in moments that will make you laugh, cry, and celebrate the unique journeys of each family member. This shift in tone adds depth and emotional resonance to the story, making it a must-see family movie.
Feathers are ruffled, new traditions are formed, and the mom squad, led by Jennifer and Shanti, has eyebrow-raising ideas about how to welcome and raise the new baby. As chaos ensues, family matriarch Aya (Mariam Bassa) decides to distance herself from the commotion, opting for a tranquil Mauritian getaway. Meanwhile, loveable granddads Elvis (Koobeshen Naidoo) and Preggie (Yugan Naidoo) take it upon themselves to restore peace to their idyllic escape from Durban.
But as with any family, the Kandasamys eventually band together. Throughout the movie, they undergo a series of realizations about the parenting journey and the importance of community support. Jodi and Prishen, as new parents navigating uncharted waters, provide the central thread that ties the story together.
With plenty of laughs, heartfelt tears, new characters, and relatable family dynamics, “Kandasamys: The Baby” is sure to bring joy to its viewers. It’s a heartwarming continuation of the beloved series that reminds us of the power of laughter and the enduring strength of family bonds.
