For its Autumn/Winter 2023 collection, Adidas Spezial explores elevated styles, with the expertise of Gary Aspden, the brand’s founder and adidas archivist.
The footwear collection includes seven unique styles, featuring the Moscrop 2 SPZL in light grey with updated design elements, and the winter-ready Hiaven SPZL returning in black with an adi-Tex membrane for weather protection.
Celebrating a 1970s training shoe with Eastern European origins, the Samba Deco SPZL features decorative stitch lines outlining the classic Samba toe overlay, offering two color options: black and green, inspired by a 1980s football boot, and brown and white, referencing the original 1970s Trainer color palette.
The Inverness SPZL, evolving from the Carnforth SPZL, is an outdoor-leisure hybrid in dark brown, matching the Haslingden Jacket; the Englewood SPZL, a low top court shoe with Campus 80s tooling, reinvents the late 80s Galaxy II high top boot; and the Lawkholme SPZL, inspired by the 80s running shoes and vintage adidas Zaza, deconstructs aesthetics with subtle branding and a neutral color palette.
The collection showcases meticulously crafted apparel and accessories with a focus on recycled fabrics, featuring the iconic dark brown Haslingden Jacket, the Moorfield Anorak with green orbit color blocks, both enhanced with durable water-resistant finishes, and the versatile gold Topfield liner adorned with embroidered Mod Trefoil branding.
