President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that South Africans will head to the polls for the general national and provincial elections on 29 May 2024.
This decision follows thorough consultations with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and discussions with all nine Provincial Premiers to assess the state of readiness for the upcoming elections.
The Presidency, in a statement released on Tuesday evening, highlighted that this decision aligns with the Electoral act of 1998. President Ramaphosa, drawing authority from the Constitution, officially designated 29 May 2024 as the date for the 2024 General National and Provincial Elections.
