Thebe Magugu, the acclaimed South African designer, has made a grand entrance into the Johannesburg scene with the opening of his flagship store. Nestled in the upscale suburb of Dunkeld, this retail haven spans an impressive 32,000 square feet, offering more than just a shopping experience—it’s a multifunctional space for exhibitions and events.
Stepping into the ground floor is like entering a world of color and elegance. The blend of signature pistachio and terracotta hues creates a captivating atmosphere. Every detail is carefully curated, from the showroom and fitting room to the reception area and two intimate art galleries showcasing Magugu’s latest Heritage capsule collection. Visitors can also delve into the designer’s collaboration with Valentino, part of U.S. Vogue’s dress-swap initiative.
A highlight of the entrance hall is a dedicated space showcasing the iconic sisterhood emblem on the book tote, a design element from Magugu’s Dior capsule collection. The bespoke furniture, crafted by renowned South African company Weylandts, adds a touch of sophistication to the space.
Adding to the artistic flair is a striking painting by Nelson Makamo, seamlessly incorporating one of Magugu’s clothing tags.
With its carefully curated spaces and captivating design elements, the retail house promises to be a destination for fashion enthusiasts and art lovers alike.
