The disruption was evident as reports flooded in on Downdetector.co.za, a platform monitoring user complaints about network availability, indicating a spike in issues related to the Telkom network.
Social media platforms were inundated with complaints from users facing connectivity problems on Telkom. The company acknowledged the situation, confirming the occurrence of a “national outage.”
Despite the restoration of its network, Telkom moved to appease its affected users by offering compensation in the form of free 1GB data. In a statement, Telkom expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and assured users of continued monitoring of the network. Additionally, Telkom announced the provision of 1GB Telkom data valid for two days as a gesture of goodwill towards its customers.
