Twitter (now X) has updated its guidelines to allow users to share consensual adult nudity or sexual content, as long as it is labeled properly and not shown in prominent places like profile pictures or banners.
In a recent update to its official usage policies, X states:
“You may share consensually produced and distributed adult nudity or sexual behavior, provided it’s properly labeled and not prominently displayed.”
As per X:
“We believe that users should be able to create, distribute, and consume material related to sexual themes as long as it is consensually produced and distributed. Sexual expression, whether visual or written, can be a legitimate form of artistic expression. We believe in the autonomy of adults to engage with and create content that reflects their own beliefs, desires, and experiences, including those related to sexuality.”
So, what does this mean? Well, it means X (Twitter) is now officially allowing porn. Although it was unofficially permitted for a long time before Elon Musk’s takeover, X (Twitter) clearly states its stance.
X (Twitter) still prohibits content promoting exploitation, nonconsent, harm to minors, and obscene behaviors, and won’t allow adult content in profile photos or banners, but it is now more open to adult material.
Users who regularly post NSFW content must now mark their images and videos as sensitive. This rule applies to all types of adult content, including AI-generated, photos, and animations.
By default, users under 18 or those who haven’t entered their birth date can’t view NSFW material.
The new guidelines also ban content that promotes exploitation, nonconsent, objectification, sexualization, harm to minors, and obscene behaviors.
