The controversial e-hailing service, Bolt South Africa, announced that it has permanently blocked over 6,000 drivers from its mobile app in the past six months due to non-compliance and safety-related issues.
Bolt says this action is part of its ongoing commitment to providing top safety measures in the ride-hailing industry.
It further says it will permanently block drivers and riders reported for misconduct, aiming to enhance customer safety and improve trip experiences on its platform.
“This move is part of Bolt’s ongoing commitment to providing top safety infrastructure within the ride-hailing industry. The company will continue to permanently block drivers and riders who have been reported for misconduct from accessing the platform. These operational measures aim to amplify customers’ safety features and trip experience on its platform,” the company said in a statement.
Acting Head of Regulatory & Policy Africa, Weyinmi Aghadiuno, said: “At Bolt, maintaining the highest standards of safety and trust is paramount.
