Apple has announced a major software update for AirPods, adding new features like hands-free Siri interactions, Voice Isolation, reduced audio latency, and more.
These updates aim to make AirPods more convenient and versatile for users on the go.
With the update, interacting with Siri through AirPods will become more personal and private. AirPods Pro users can nod their heads to say “yes” or gently shake their heads to say “no” in response to Siri. This is useful in situations where speaking out loud isn’t ideal, like in crowded or quiet places. Powered by machine learning on the H2 chip, these Siri interactions let users answer or dismiss calls, manage messages and notifications, and perform various tasks without speaking.
Since their launch, AirPods have made it easy to stay connected. To improve call quality in all environments, AirPods Pro will now include Voice Isolation. This technology, already available on Mac, iPhone, and iPad, uses machine learning on the H2 chip and the paired iPhone, iPad, or Mac to enhance the user’s voice and minimize background noise like wind.
These new features will be available this spring as a free firmware update for AirPods Pro (2nd generation), enhancing the functionality and user experience of Apple’s popular earbuds.
