Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has named a squad of 23 players for this weekend’s Test match against Wales at Twickenham in England.
This marks the return of the Springboks to the field since their World Cup win in 2023 in France. They will play against Wales for the Qatar Airways Cup on Saturday, 22 June 2024 in London.
Rassie Erasmus named an exciting matchday 23, captained by Pieter-Steph du Toit, including four uncapped players and 10 from the 2023 Rugby World Cup final.
The team will travel to London on Wednesday, 19 June 2024, including Manie Libbok, RG Snyman, Neethling Fouche, Phepsi Buthelezi, Ethan Hooker, Quan Horn, and Andre-Hugo Venter, with Snyman joining from Ireland after Munster’s recent semi-final exit.
Kick-off is at 3:00pm (local time), and the game will be live on SuperSport (211) with the build-up starting at 2:00pm.
Rassie commented on selecting Pieter-Steph Du Toit as captain, stating it was well deserved and personal for him, as he last led the team in a 2018 loss to Wales.
“He has captained the Springboks only once before and that was against Wales in 2018, and after that result, we believe it will make this match even more personal for him. Over and above that, he has immense respect from his team-mates and the coaches, and we know he will accept this responsibility with great pride,” said Erasmus.
