The Proteas has secured a spot in the T20 World Cup final after a nine-wicket victory over Afghanistan in the semi-final held in Trinidad. This historic win saw South Africa become the first team to bowl out their opponents for under 100 runs in a Men’s T20 World Cup semi-final.
South Africa’s bowling attack was relentless, led by Marco Jansen who was awarded Player of the Match for his stellar performance of 3/16 from three overs. Kagiso Rabada contributed with 2/14, and Anrich Nortje supported with 2/7. Tabraiz Shamsi polished off the tail with 3/16 in just 11 balls.
From the outset, South Africa dominated, taking eight wickets in the first 10 overs and leaving Afghanistan struggling to build a competitive total. The disciplined and aggressive bowling set a commanding tone for the match.
In response, South Africa’s top-order batsmen showed composure, easily chasing down the modest target with nine wickets in hand. They await the winner of the England vs. India semi-final.
The final match will play this Saturday, 29 June at The Kensington Oval in Barbados.
