This week’s must-watch movie is Netflix’s action-comedy ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F‘, starring Eddie Murphy as the charismatic Axel Foley.
In this thrilling sequel, Axel returns to Beverly Hills after threats to his daughter Jane and his old partner Billy Rosewood emerge.
Teaming up with his estranged daughter Jane Saunders (Taylour Paige), her ex-boyfriend Bobby Abbott (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), and old friends John Taggart (John Ashton) and Serge (Bronson Pinchot), Axel sets out to unravel a dangerous conspiracy.
The story begins with Axel reconnecting with Jane, a defense attorney in LA, under the guidance of his friend and former Beverly Hills Police Officer turned private investigator, Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold). Billy warns Axel that Jane’s life is in danger due to her representation of Enriquez, who has been framed for the murder of undercover officer Copeland. When Billy is kidnapped by the cartel, Axel leaps into action despite feeling he’s getting too old for this kind of work.
Returning to Beverly Hills, Axel discovers Jane’s investigation into corrupt cops has put her in grave danger. Familiar faces like Billy Rosewood and John Taggart add a nostalgic touch, while new team members Detective Bobby Abbott and Captain Cade Grant (Kevin Bacon) bring fresh dynamics and intrigue.
Serving as the fourth installment in the ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ series and a sequel to 1994’s ‘Beverly Hills Cop III,’ Eddie Murphy shines as Axel Foley, blending charisma and comedic timing to breathe new life into the character. The movie features returning cast members Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, and Bronson Pinchot, along with new additions Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, and Kevin Bacon.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F masterfully combines the classic feel of the original movies with a modern twist. The cinematography captures the vibrant essence of Beverly Hills, while the soundtrack mixes nostalgic tracks from the 1984 movie with fresh new music. Eddie Murphy’s performance is as engaging as ever, making Axel Foley one of his most beloved characters. The movie proves that sequels don’t have to be boring and lame.
Overall this movie is entertaining, delivering action, humor, and a thrilling plot that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.
