South Africa’s Cape Town International Airport and Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport have been ranked among the best in the world in a recent global airport performance report by AirHelp.
Spanning from 1 May 2023, to 30 April 2024, the evaluation assessed airports on three things: on-time performance, customer feedback, and amenities such as dining and shopping options.
Cape Town International Airport secured the second place globally, highlighting its reliability in ensuring flights operate on schedule and maintaining high levels of passenger satisfaction. It is also ranked the number one on this year’s most punctual airports.
Meanwhile, Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport claimed the sixth position.
AirHelp’s methodology employs rigorous standards, defining flights as “on time” if they arrive within 15 minutes of their scheduled time. This meticulous approach ensures that rankings accurately reflect operational excellence based on objective data.
The top-ranking airports showcase a diverse global representation, with Hamad International Airport in Qatar securing the top spot. Notable entries also include airports in Japan, Brazil, Oman, and the United States, demonstrating excellence in various aspects of airport management and passenger experience.
