Ticketmaster has acquired South African ticketing business Quicket to expand business in Africa.
Having launched in the South African market in 2022, Ticketmaster already serves some of the country’s leading festivals, sports, music, theatre, and venue clients.
This acquisition will make it easier to expand services for events of all sizes, from small clubs to bigger scale festivals and stadiums.
Founded in South Africa in 2011, Quicket already serves Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, and Botswana. The acquisition will enable more African venues, artists, and promoters to benefit from Quicket’s regional expertise combined with Ticketmaster’s global reach and services. Additionally, it will facilitate the spread of digital technologies, such as secure encrypted mobile tickets, across the continent.
Under the leadership of Managing Director James Tagg, Quicket will continue to operate as a standalone business unit from Cape Town, led by Managing Director James Tagg. Tagg expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting its potential to connect African artists to a global audience and enhance the experience for local fans and promoters.
Ticketmaster President Mark Yovich emphasized the importance of Africa’s passionate fan base and the company’s commitment to delivering top-tier tools for promoters, venues, and artists. He stated, “Our partnership with Quicket will supercharge our mission to elevate Africa’s dynamic live events to the global spotlight they truly deserve.”
