Shoprite Group‘s Checkers Sixty60 delivery service continues to thrive, boasting a 58.1% growth in the 2024 financial year.
The company, South Africa’s largest supermarket chain, reported a total sales increase of 12%, reaching R240.7 billion. This growth is driven by new store openings and double-digit sales growth across most of its brands.
The group’s core business, saw a 12.3% rise in sales, contributing 81% to total sales. The premium grocery brand Checkers also grew by 12.3%, while the budget-friendly Shoprite and Usave chains recorded a 10.7% sales increase. This impressive performance highlights the group’s adaptability and strong market presence.
With operation in nine countries across Africa, the company added 292 new stores during the period.
