Mother City, mark your calendars!
Spotify will be taking over the city with a four-day experience, bringing the “MOM: Mother of Music” event to celebrate the city’s vibrant and diverse music scene.
The event will bring together fans of music, art, and streetwear culture for a weekend-long experience from the 5-8 September 2024 at multiple venues across the city.
Those attending the event will be spoilt with exciting activities, including a playlist launch party, a high-energy rave, an immersive street party, and a grand finale event in Khayelitsha.
Spotify aims to bring together music lovers and creative enthusiasts to experience the vibrant sounds, stunning art, and streetwear that represent Cape Town’s unique cultural fabric.
Recognised as the Mother City and a hub for producing globally recognised music artists, Cape Town’s contributions to the local and global music scenes are unparalleled.
Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, emphasized the significance of this event, stating, “Cape Town, as a cultural destination, is the perfect stage for MOM: Mother of Music. This event honours the city’s extraordinary contribution to local and global music sub-scenes and fuels the creative spirit of its upcoming artists.”
The event is free and open to all, with registration available via the MOM: Mother of Music microsite.
