For our movie of the week, we spotlight Netflix’s latest romance-drama, ‘Piano Love‘, which has audiences captivated.
This breathtaking movie stars two of South Africa’s finest talents, Bontle Modiselle-Moloi and Kwesta.
Directed by Mandla N and produced by Black Brain Pictures, Piano Love is a vibrant story of love, ambition, and the unifying power of music, set against the backdrop of the wildly popular Amapiano genre.
The movie’s soundtrack pulses with soulful Amapiano beats, drawing viewers into the world of its characters as they navigate the triumphs and struggles of life in Johannesburg. The story captures the city’s bustling streets to intimate studio sessions and family struggles.
Piano Love follows the love story of Sipho aka Preacher and Lerato (played by Kwesta and Bontle Modiselle-Moloi) whose romance blossoms amidst the challenges and heartaches of Soweto’s vibrant streets. Sipho is frustrated because of his failing rap career, while Lerato is back home after being expelled from school. Things take a tough turn when their lives collide with Bra Biblos (played by Peter Mashigo).
As the story unfolds, with your favorite Amapiano jams bumping in the background, we watch them reconnect, turning all their frustrations into something good.
With social media personalities like Moghelingz, Robot Boii, and Chad Jones making appearances, Piano Love also taps into the current social zeitgeist.
Bontle and Kwesta’s on-screen chemistry brings the heart of the story to life, while the soundtrack takes it to another level. Whether you’re a fan of music, romance, or powerful storytelling, Piano Love offers a refreshing tale of passion, love, and the sacrifices that come with chasing your dreams.
