Disney+ will implement a price increase in South Africa starting on 6 November 2024 for new subscribers.
Existing customers will experience the new rates beginning on 6 December 2024.
The monthly subscription fee will increase from R139 to R169, reflecting a 14.39% hike.
“Pricing will increase in select markets globally at different times throughout the remainder of the calendar year, as per our previous earnings call,” Disney said.
The company noted that new pricing begins for new customers on 6 November, while existing customers will see the change from 6 December, with notifications starting in early November.
The streaming service hasn’t yet confirmed the annual subscription rate, but based on the new monthly fee, it is likely to be around R1,590 per year.
This will be the streaming service’s second price hike since its launch in May 2022.
