The much-awaited sequel to Joker (2019) will hit cinemas this week. ‘Joker: Folie à Deux‘ brings back Joaquin Phoenix in his award-winning role as Arthur Fleck, promising another intense, emotional rollercoaster of laughter, tears, and madness.
This time, he’s joined by the mesmerizing Lady Gaga, who steps into the iconic role of Harley Quinn, adding a thrilling new dynamic to the story. Zazie Beetz reprises her role as Sophie Dumond, while new cast members Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener add to the intrigue.
Set two years after the original, the sequel finds Arthur locked away in Arkham State Hospital, where he crosses paths with Harleen Quinzel, a fellow patient. Their shared madness quickly spirals into a whirlwind of love, rebellion, and musical flair, while Arthur’s followers ignite a movement to break him free.
Directed by Todd Phillips, this dark, psychological musical is set to take cinema screens by storm. Catch Joker: Folie à Deux at NuMetro and Ster-Kinekor cinemas from 04 October 2024.
