The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has taken its new partnership with Betway up a notch by announcing a massive prize pool for the Betway Premiership title.

After revealing Betway as the new title sponsor back in July, PSL Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza has now confirmed that the winning team for the 2024/25 season will pocket R20 million when the league wraps up in May 2025.

This prize money is a major increase and elevates the stakes and prestige of the league under the new sponsorship.

The announcement was made during a joint media briefing held at the PSL headquarters in Johannesburg. Dr. Khoza was joined by Betway CEO Laurence Michel and Executive Director Sibongile Simelane-Quntana of the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF). While details about the prize breakdown for other teams will be shared in due course, this initial reveal has already added a new level of excitement to the league.

During the briefing, the trio also took the opportunity to emphasize responsible betting. They urged fans to exercise caution and make informed decisions when engaging with sports betting platforms, highlighting the importance of supporting the league responsibly.
