Big cinema week, with the release of “Gladiator 2“.
Set decades after the events of the original classic, Gladiator 2 brings us back to the brutal arenas of ancient Rome. The story follows Lucius Verus, son of Lucilla and nephew to the infamous Commodus.
Now a young man, Lucius witnesses the tyranny of Rome’s new emperors firsthand when they invade his homeland, leaving him with no choice but to step into the gladiator arena. Inspired by the legendary Maximus, whom he saw die heroically years before, Lucius is driven by a fierce determination to reclaim his family’s honor and bring glory back to Rome.
This epic continuation, directed once again by the legendary Ridley Scott, promises high-stakes drama, political intrigue, and intense battles that will push Lucius to his limits. Paul Mescal takes on the role of Lucius Verus, with Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, and Connie Nielsen reprising her role as Lucilla. The plot is shrouded in mystery, but audiences can expect Lucius to face both menacing foes and vicious beasts within the Colosseum, as he embarks on a journey of vengeance and destiny.
Gladiator 2 will release at local cinemas this week, 22 November.
