Instagram is rolling out a new feature that gives users the ability to reset their recommendation algorithm, allowing for a fresh start in how content is presented to them.
With this update, users will be able to reset recommendations on Explore page, home feed, and Reels tab.
Instagram’s algorithm takes into account factors like the people you follow, posts you’ve liked or saved, and the content you’ve viewed.
This new option, which was highlighted by Instagram in a blog post, is designed to help users, especially teenagers, see content that’s more in line with their current interests and ensures a more positive, age-appropriate experience on the platform.
“We want to make sure everyone on Instagram – especially teens – has safe, positive, age-appropriate experiences and feels the time they’re spending on Instagram is valuable. In addition to providing built-in protections from sensitive content with Teen Accounts, we want to give teens new ways to shape their Instagram experience, so it can continue to reflect their passions and interests as they evolve,” blog post states.
The reset feature allows users to rebuild their Instagram experience from scratch. As the algorithm learns anew, you’ll see recommendations based on your new interactions, offering a more personalized and relevant feed. Additionally, the feature gives users the ability to review the accounts they follow and unfollow any that no longer align with their interests or the type of content they wish to see.
