Instagram is rolling out new features including new stickers for DMs, ability to add nickname to your profile and live location sharing.
The app has rolled out 17 new sticker packs and over 300 fresh stickers to use DM chats. You can now also favorite stickers from your conversations—whether it’s one shared by a friend or a custom creation you’ve made using cutouts—making them easier to reuse.
Adding to that, Instagram now lets you create nicknames for yourself and your friends in DMs. These nicknames are private and appear only in your chat conversations.
To do this, simply tap the chat name at the top of your conversation, select “Nicknames,” and add a unique name for yourself or your friend.
Another feature is the ability to share your live location directly in DMs. Perfect for meet-ups, concerts, or busy outings, you can now share your exact spot for up to an hour or pin a location on the map to coordinate plans with friends. Location sharing is entirely private and visible only to those in the specific DM chat, and includes an expiration timer for added security. An indicator at the top of your chat ensures you never forget that your live location is being shared.
New stickers and Nicknames are available to most users, while Location sharing features are currently only available in select countries.
