Nintendo has confirmed that the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will release this year.
A video released by the company today gave fans a sneak peek at the console’s design, showing off its sleek new look.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will play all the exclusive titles made for the new system, as well as most games from the original Nintendo Switch, both in physical and digital formats. However, not every Switch game will work on the new console, so stay tuned for a list of compatible titles, which Nintendo will share on its website later.

From the teaser, it’s clear the Switch 2 retains the signature design of the original model, featuring detachable controllers, but now it boasts a much larger screen with smooth, curved edges for a more premium feel.
Though more specifics, including pricing and full specs, are expected to be revealed in the coming months, the company has shared that the original Nintendo Switch has sold an impressive 146.04 million units, just shy of the record set by the Nintendo DS, which reached 154.02 million.
For those eager to get up close with the new console, Nintendo will host Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events in cities across America, Asia, and Europe, offering fans a chance to try out the system before its release. Stay tuned for local event schedules.
