The stage is set for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), running from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026 in Morocco. The draw, held in Rabat on Monday, revealed the tournament’s groupings, showcasing 24 nations competing for the prestigious title, last claimed by Côte d’Ivoire.
From defending champions Côte d’Ivoire to record-holders Egypt and hosts Morocco, the competition promises thrilling matchups as Africa’s best take to the field in six cities over four action-packed weeks. Following a rigorous qualifying process that saw 48 teams battle it out in 12 groups, only the top two teams from each group earned their place in the tournament.
South Africa will be head on with Egypt, Angola, Zimbabwe in Group B.
The tournament’s format will see teams from six groups fight for the ultimate prize of being crowned the kings of African football.
