Pret A Manger is making its long-awaited debut in South Africa, with its first store opening at Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, on 14 February 2025.
Pret’s offerings include coffee, freshly made salads, sandwiches, wraps, fruit pots, cold beverages, and sweet & savoury snacks.
This marks the brand’s first venture into Africa, bringing its fresh food and signature coffee to local customers. A second store in Rosebank will follow, with plans to expand into Cape Town, Pretoria, and Durban.
The UK-based chain, known for its freshly made salads, sandwiches, wraps, and quality coffee, has partnered with the local Millat Group, which holds the license to introduce and grow the brand in South Africa.
With over 650 stores worldwide, Pret A Manger’s entry into the market adds to the competition in the fast-growing coffee and fresh food sector, going up against established names like Starbucks and Krispy Kreme.
