Spotify has now inked a new multi-year deal with Warner Music Group, further expanding its catalog while promising new fan experiences, additional subscription options, and exclusive content bundles.
Though not much has been revealed, the agreement guarantees continued access to Warner Music Group artists’ music and content on Spotify.
In addition, this agreement brings fresh fan experiences, a broader music and video library, more subscription plans, and unique content bundles. It also reinforces the companies’ shared focus on an ‘artist-centric’ royalty approach that values musicians’ influence. A key highlight is the introduction of a direct licensing model with Warner Chappell Music in more countries, including the U.S., further supporting songwriters.
Robert Kyncl, CEO of WMG, shared that this agreement marks a significant milestone, bringing new opportunities for artists, songwriters, and fans while fostering deeper collaboration within the music industry. He emphasized that it strengthens the alignment between rights holders and streaming services, stating, “This major agreement delivers new benefits for artists, songwriters, and fans, while unlocking further collaboration that expands the music ecosystem. It’s a big step forward in our vision for greater alignment between rights holders and streaming services. Together with Spotify, we look forward to increasing the value of music, as we drive growth, impact, and innovation.”
Meanwhile, Daniel Ek, Spotify’s Founder and CEO, pointed out that 2025 marks a crucial phase for Spotify’s expansion, with Warner Music Group contributing to its mission of redefining the music experience. He shared, “For Spotify, 2025 is a year of accelerated execution, and our partners at Warner Music Group share our commitment to rapid innovation and sustained investment in our leading music offerings. Together, we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible for audiences worldwide—making paid music subscriptions more appealing while supporting artists and songwriters alike.”
