The ‘90s were a golden era for sneakers, and in 1995, Nike dropped a design that shook things up—the Air Max 95. Designed by Sergio Lozano, a then-young Nike designer, this sneaker wasn’t just another Air Max. It was bold, aggressive, and completely different from anything before it.

Taking inspiration from human anatomy, Lozano layered the upper to mimic muscle fibers and gave it a chunky, structured look. The biggest game-changer? Visible Air in the forefoot. Before the 95s, Air Max sneakers only had the bubble in the heel, but this one doubled down—literally.

And let’s talk about the Neon colorway. Grey gradient panels with electric neon pops? Unmatched. It became the OG of all OGs, setting a standard for futuristic sneaker design. Even today, the Neon 95 is a must-have in any serious rotation.

But beyond looks, the Air Max 95 had cultural weight. From ‘90s hip-hop videos to today’s streetwear scene, its impact never faded. It’s been remixed, re-released, and reimagined, but the essence remains the same—bold, rebellious, and effortlessly cool.

Three decades later, the Air Max 95 still holds its own, proving that great design is timeless. Whether you’re rocking a fresh pair or hunting for a vintage drop, one thing’s certain: the 95s will always be legendary.

And with its 30th anniversary underway, the OG ‘Neon’ is making a comeback—this time with a Big (Air Max) Bubble, bringing the classic into a new era while staying true to its roots.

Look out for the Nike Air Max 95 Big Bubble “Neon” to release at selected local retailers, including LEMKUS and Shelflife. The retail price is set at R 3,699.00.
