Netflix has quietly bumped up its subscription prices in South Africa—making this the second price hike since it launched locally in 2016.

This quiet price hike affects three of Netflix’s plans (mobile, basic, standard, and premium).

Some existing subscribers received a notice about the upcoming price hike, with the email stating, “We’re updating your monthly price to R229 on June 17th, 2025.”

Netflix users will start paying the new prices from their next billing date:

  • Premium goes up by R30 (from R199 to R229)
  • Standard goes up by R20 (from R159 to R179)
  • Mobile sees its first-ever hike, rising by R10 (from R49 to R59)

If your next billing date is before 7 June, you’ll still pay the old price for one more month.

This marks Netflix’s second price hike in South Africa since its launch in January 2016.
