After a week-long suspension from Kaya FM (now Kaya 959), Solomzi ‘Sol’ Phenduka broke his silence, confirming it was tied to his ongoing legal spat with Minnie Dlamini.
Just a week later, the station officially fired him.
The move comes after Sol Phenduka made misogynistic comments about Minnie Dlamini on the “Podcast and Chill with MacG,”.
This prompted Minnie to file a R2.5 million lawsuit against Sol and co-host MacG for alleged hate speech and harassment.
In a statement issued on Monday, Kaya FM stated that his contract was ended “with immediate effect” due to his recent public behavior.
According to Dave Tiltmann, “Kaya 959 cannot and will not condone comments made on the MacG Vodcast,” referring to the “misogynistic remarks made about actress Minnie Dlamini” that sparked public backlash.
Tiltmann added that as a public face of the breakfast show, Phenduka’s stance “does not reflect who we are as a station, nor what our listeners expect of us.”
He also called it a “further material breach” of Sol’s agreement — especially disappointing given Sol’s previous apology and written commitment in 2023 not to repeat this kind of conduct.
