New Balance continues to expand its local footprint in South Africa, with the opening of its latest UCC Experience store at Somerset Mall, Cape Town.
This brings the total to 16 New Balance stores in the country.
Set in the mall’s newly extended wing, the store is more than a retail stop; it introduces the UCC concept (“Uncommon is Common”) to the Western Cape for the first time.
This Somerset branch introduces Western Cape shoppers to New Balance’s updated retail concept dubbed U.C.C., short for “Uncommon is Common.” This new setup is designed as a “people-first” space that merges elite sport with culture and community.
Sandton City Shopping Centre and Eastgate Shopping Centre are home to other New Balance UCC locations.
Inside, customers can expect visual storytelling, carefully curated product drops, and a dedicated “Made in USA” section that celebrates craftsmanship.

The Cape Town expansion is part of a larger push. In 2025 alone, the company opened three new Experience stores, adding 650 square meters of retail space and increasing its investment footprint by 25%.
The growth continues in 2026, with at least four more stores planned, pushing the national footprint by 30%.
New Balance Experience stores now span major cities, including Cape Town (Canal Walk, Table Bay, and now Somerset Mall), Johannesburg (Sandton City, Eastgate), and Durban (Gateway Mall).
