Kyotic is a Joburg based deejay who also drops jams on Metro FM's breakfast show hosted by Mo' Flava. The calm and collected jock rose to fame with his popular House Music and Hip Hop mixes and credits the reputable DJ pH and platforms such as Back to The City Festival for cementing and paving the way for his career.
Today, Kyotic is a solid brand with a slot of SA's biggest radio station and his popular Thursday sessions; Kyotic Thursdays which are hosted at Shakers in Maboneng.
We had a sitdown with the man himself to chat about his hustle in the city, music and playing at the Miller Music Drop.
"I GOT TO BE IN THE SAME SPACE WITH THE LIKES OF DJ PH WHO HAS PUSHED ME A LOT AND ALSO PLAYING AT BACK TO THE CITY FESTIVAL"
When did you jump into the whole scene of music and deejaying?
Kyotic: It started when I was a kid because of my dad, he used to play a lot of music, stuff like Ladysmith and just a lot of genres, that's when I got attached to music. And my love for deejaying began around 2002 and I started playing the next year from Virtual DJ and moved to Vinyl and CDJ's.
And deejays that influenced your career?
Kyotic: There's a lot, growing up I used to listen to a lot of Old School House music, artists such as UPZ, Glenzito, DJ Fresh and now I got to be in the same space with the likes of DJ pH who has pushed me a lot and also playing at Back to the City Festival, that has opened a lot of doors for me.
And how has the Joburg city played a role in that and spots you find cool to play at?
Kyotic: Yes, Joburg did influence my career a lot, because this is where my deejaying career started. It got me a lot of recognition whereby when I get to certain places and ask to play its easy, cause my name is already out there and known.
Around its places like SUMO and Onyx but that's just around Jozi, there are outside spots that are really dope like Kroonstad and Swaziland.

Kyotic: Basically we call it Kyotic Thursdays which I host at Shakers every Thursday, it leads from the mix in the morning on Metro FM and we go up to the party in the evening.
Are you dropping new music anytime soon?
Kyotic: I'm gonna start properly next year and definitely dropping an EP project - I'm still in talks with a number of artists in terms of features.
THE MUSIC MILLER DROP
And what does it mean for you to be playing at the upcoming Miller Music Drop?
Kyotic: It has plugged me and I'm actually very grateful cause I will be playing on the same platform with an international artist and our local talented deejays - and the way everything has been set up its something I've never experienced.
